Executive recruiters are rarely the solution for entry-level positions (or fry cooks). Usually they place junior and mid-level executives. However, there are plenty of agencies that also cater to senior management (Vice President, CEO) positions as well. You just need to know where to look.
Finding A Legitimate Executive Recruiter is Easier than You Think
Certainly, you are free to try to find an executive recruiting firm by looking online. You can find dozens and dozens of search firms that advertise online. But rather than spending time reading about one agency that sounds perfect—until you find out they only place “healthcare talent” (when you’re looking for financial management)—there is another option. If you have the time, go to the library (or to amazon.com) and check out the Directory of Executive Recruiters, also known as “The Red Book.” This book has it all: a comprehensive list of executive recruiting firms organized by geographical location and business category (e.g. healthcare, etc.).
